Our Philosophy
At Cherry Hoggs, our dog training philosophy is rooted in real dog psychology. Dogs are pack animals who thrive when life is calm, structured, and clear. We use a balanced approach that includes positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, fair corrections, and energy-based communication – all grounded in how dogs naturally learn.
Our goal is simple: help dogs become confident, stable, and well-behaved by teaching owners how to lead with calm, steady guidance.
Pack Leadership, Done Properly
Pack leadership isn’t about dominance; it’s about giving dogs direction, stability, and trust. When leadership is missing, dogs often become anxious, reactive, or attempt to take control themselves.
We teach owners how to set clear boundaries, simple rules, and predictable routines so their dogs know exactly what’s expected. Saying “no” when needed is not harsh – it’s healthy communication that helps dogs make better choices.
How Dogs Learn With Us
We train using methods that make sense to dogs:
- Positive reinforcement to reward desired behavior
- Negative reinforcement to help dogs understand how to turn pressure off
- Fair corrections to interrupt unsafe or unwanted behavior
- Energy-based communication to maintain calm, consistent leadership
We also use brief, purposeful separation when appropriate, because no dog wants to be away from its pack. This natural consequence creates immediate clarity without fear or force.
What Dogs Need to Stay Balanced
Every dog needs:
- Structure and rules
- Exercise and mental stimulation
- Training and leadership
- A healthy, real-food diet
- Safety and companionship
When these needs are met, dogs become naturally balanced.
The Cherry Hoggs Way
Be clear. Be fair. Correct when necessary. Reward generously. Forgive quickly. Lead calmly and love unconditionally.
Our dogs trust us and we trust them. That’s why our Cherry Hoggs pack can walk up to 30 dogs off-leash, without tools or e-collars, moving together as one stable pack.
